Healthy Skin! - What does it mean, actually?!


First of all, healthy skin is smooth, firm, moisturized, radiant, devoid of imperfections such as pimples, scratches, blackheads, etc. 


Your skin is the window to your body that reveals the stories of your life. From acne breakouts during your teenage years to the radiant glow of pregnancy and the sunspots of ageing, both your age and your health are reflected in your skin.


Many factors affect your skin. Genetics, ageing, hormones, and conditions such as diabetes affect your skin health. Some of these you cannot influence, but there are many other external factors that you can!


Here are 10 beauty masks you can make in a jiffy without spending a single penny for a parlour like effect!! 

1. Tomato lemon mask


This mask will help in removing any tan on the skin, leaving it brighter.

  • Take one tomato and crush it into puree after removing the seeds and skin. 

  • Then add two tablespoons of lemon juice.

  • Mix it well into a paste and apply it to your face and neck.

  • Leave it for 20 mins and wash off with cold water.

2. Turmeric mask


One of the most popular ingredients for making face masks is turmeric. Its medicinal properties helping in reducing blemishes and maintaining flawless skin.

  • Take 3 tablespoons of lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder and mix it well.

  • Apply on your face and neck, and then wash it off with cold water after 20 mins.

3. Orange curd mask

This mask will give you an instant glow.

  • Mix a teaspoon of orange juice with 2 teaspoons of curd (OR). Crush orange peel into a powder and make a thick paste by mixing it with curd.

  • Massage this on your face in a circular motion for 2 mins.

  • After 10 minutes, wash your face with cold water.

4. Papaya mask

Papaya is a rich source of vitamin A and C, and so it is perfect for your skin. It also contains papain, a special enzyme that fades dark spots, blemishes and cures sin impurities.


a) For dry skin - Papaya honey mask

  • Mash 8-10 cubes of raw papaya.

  • Add 1 tbsp of honey and 1 tbsp of milk.

  • Mix to form a smooth paste and apply it to your face and neck.

  • Let it sit for 15-20 mins.

  • Rinse it off with lukewarm water.

b) For oily skin - Papaya banana cucumber mask

  • Blend 1/4th cucumber, 1/4th papaya and 1/2 banana to form a smooth paste.

  • Apply this mask to your face and neck.

  • Rinse it off with lukewarm water after 15-20 mins.

c) For combination skin - Papaya tomato mask

  • Mash 8-10 cubes of papaya, mix it with some tomato pulp and form a smooth paste.

  • Rinse with lukewarm water after 15 mins.

5. Potato mask

Potatoes are staple in every home. Use them to remove tan and brighten your skin.

  • Mix an equal quantity of lemon juice and potato juice.

  • If you have dry skin, add a tbsp of honey to the mixture.

  • Apply it all over your face and neck.

  • Rinse after 15 mins for glowing skin.

6. Coconut oil mask

Coconut oil contains lauric acid that possesses moisturizing properties. Thus it can help you to prevent dry skin and promote an even skin tone.

  • Mix a teaspoon of coconut oil, yoghurt and honey to form a thick paste.

  • Apply this paste to your face and neck and leave it on for 15 mins.

  • Rinse your face thoroughly with lukewarm water.

You can do this 2 times a week.


7. Lemon mask

Lemon is a rich source of ascorbic acid or vitamin C. Thereby, it improves your complexion and imparting a natural glow. So only lemon juice is used to prepare most of the beauty masks.

  • Squeeze lemon juice into a bowl.

  • Add gram flour and make a paste.

  • Apply this to your face and leave it on for 15-20 mins.

  • Rinse off with water.

8. Green tea mask

Green tea has antioxidant properties that can help you restore the natural glow of your skin. It can also help you to protect your skin from harmful sun rays.

  • Take 1 tbsp of green tea, 1 tbsp of chickpea flour and 1/2 tbsp of turmeric powder in a bowl.

  • Make a fine paste with a few drops of water.

  • Apply it on your face and neck and let it sit for about 15 mins.

  • Rinse with lukewarm water.
